Super Bowl Pro-Life Tebow-a-Palooza!

First of all, a point purely related to football (non-fans may skip ahead): Apparently, the media who cover pro football have no contact with--or knowledge of--the media who cover college football.  Under the eye of the college media, Tim Tebow was a nine-foot-tall magical genie with the strength of 16 bulldozers who could alter the flow of rivers with the power of his mind. According to reporters who cover the pros, however, he's a mentally disabled circus freak who wears his jersey with his head poking through one of the arm holes.

I am a big fan of Tebow, and inclined to see him in the best light.  But even accounting for my prejudice, I can't see how someone can go from being a candidate for "best who ever played" at one level to "high risk rebuilding project" at the next level. At the very least, the guy is an insanely committed, insanely competitive, gifted athlete, with all the quality character traits to boot.  Isn't that somebody you want in the locker room?  I think many teams will pass over Tim Tebow on draft day, and I think they will all regret it.

And speaking of being a big Tebow fan, his pro-life Super Bowl ad just make me admire him all the more.  The dude is simply fearless.  Which, come to think of it, is how Christians should be anyway.

I don't know the content of the ad, but I bet it's great, because it's making all the right people mad. And Sarah Palin has it right when she says that, if "women's rights" groups really supported women, they would be celebrating the ad:

What a ridiculous situation they’re getting themselves into now with their protest of CBS airing a pro-life ad during the upcoming Super Bowl game. The ad will feature Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mom, and they’ll speak to the sanctity of life and the beautiful potential within every innocent child as Mrs. Tebow acknowledges her choice to give Tim life, despite less than ideal circumstances. Messages like this empower women! This speaks to the strength and commitment and nurturing spirit within women. The message says everything positive and nothing negative about the power of women -- and life. Evidently, some women’s rights groups like NOW do not like that message.

And IMAO has an interesting suggestion:

They should counter Tim Tebow’s Super Bowl ad with an ad of a woman
saying how awesome her life turned out because of an abortion.
Optimally, you’d want someone who was aborted saying how happy he was
to be aborted, but that’s kinda hard.

I'm looking forward to the Tebow ad more than I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl.  If only he could team up with the Etrade talking baby, it would be perfect.

Update: Polls suggest that America wants to see the ad as much as I do.  And now it's not "ad" but "ads." Somebody give the Tebows their own TV show! Besides ESPN's College Game Day, I mean.
